First, students will identify a problem in their community surrounding healthy citizens (The #1 point on the mayor’s strategic plan which focuses on the mental and physical health of citizens).
Second, students will find a solution to the problem they have identified. Solutions can be inventions, initiatives, programs, etc. For example, a Jackson State student named Lamonte Pierce designed a straw to filter lead and other contaminants in water.
Next, students will compete against others in their school, and if their team is first place in their school, then they will compete at the TECH JXN conference for an opportunity to win prizes!
- Must be a student of Jackson Public Schools
- Students must be 16 years-old on day of competition (April 17, 2020)
- Students must compete in teams of 2-4 people
